Business Description
Flathead Rivers Alliance (FRA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to education, stewardship and community initiatives that support and enhance a resilient and healthy Three Forks of the Flathead River ecosystem, while ensuring people interact respectfully and responsibility.
Formed in 2019, FRA has established itself as the standard bearer for conservation and stewardship of the Three Forks of the Flathead River. The nationally designated 219-mile Flathead Wild & Scenic River system not only inspired the Wild & Scenic River Act of 1968 but is the source of 85% of the water that flows into Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwaters lake west of the Mississippi River. Through education, stewardship, and partnerships, we work alongside communities, businesses, tribes/First Nations, organizations and river management agencies with collective vision to maintain the health of the Flathead, while ensuring current and future access and enjoyment for all. Through our efforts we're able to improve ADA Accessibility at river access sites, foster the next generation of river stewards, and mitigate river-system threats: invasive aquatic species, climate impacts, a host of recreation related pressures, water quality and river safety. Annually we host 350+ volunteers who give 1,750+ volunteer hours annually on the river system. Just as river usage grows, so does the desire of the community to learn more and give back.
